Drawing inspiration from stories that move us to act in service to others can create long lasting rippling effects and deliver deep fulfilment. The Starfish Story was shared with us during a personal and professional development retreat and, like "Footprints in the Sand", it has become one of our favorite stories to share with community. "A child once journeyed along a storm-swept beach with thousands of starfish washed ashore. Knowing the sun would begin to dry the starfish out and they would start to perish, the child picked them up one by one and returned them to the ocean. An observing adult approached the child and said, "You can't possibly save them all, what difference are you making?" The child looked up, smiled and returned the next starfish to the water then said, "it made a difference to that one".
